Blackthorn Walking Stick The traditional Irish Blackthorn (Walking) stick, recognized by its sometimes sharp prickles, is said to have once been used during times of oppression instead of Rosary Beads to avoid capture for being Catholic. Also known as a Shillelagh, originating from the town of Shillelagh, located in County Wicklow, each stick is hand finished and lacquered. No two sticks are alike and the handles will vary in shape and thickness.
